Ocean Obsession | Port Canaveral Deep Sea Fishing Party Boat
The Ocean Obsession is a 65-foot, air-conditioned party boat built for Port Canaveral deep sea fishing, about an hour from Orlando and minutes from Cocoa Beach. It sails from Sunrise Marina at 500 Glen Cheek Drive and targets big grouper, red snapper, cobia, amberjack, kingfish, sharks and mahi-mahi, with a full galley serving hot food, cold beer and sodas.
Trips and Prices
- Half day: Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesdays 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM; Sundays and Thursdays 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. $85 adults, $65 children 4 to 15.
- Full day: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. $125 adults, $80 children 4 to 15.
- Shark fishing: Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. $60 adults, $45 children 4 to 15.
Special trips include full-moon snapper trips, grouper trips, jigging trips, Take a Kid Fishing and evening private charters, and there’s a Lady Anglers Club. For a private charter for up to 6, the marina can book you on one of Sunrise Marina’s charter boats.
What’s Included
Every trip includes your fishing license, rod and reel, tackle, bait, ice and a friendly crew that helps with instruction. Full-day trips include a hot breakfast and hot lunch with soda and coffee; half-day trips include a hot lunch, soda and coffee. Evening shark trips don’t include food or drinks. The crew will fillet your fish at the end of the day for an extra tip, and Grills restaurant next door will cook your fillets.
An Honest Note on Fishing
The crew is upfront that it’s called fishing, not catching: on many trips everyone takes home keeper fish, on others only a handful do. If you’re there to enjoy a day on the water, fish or no fish, you’ll have a great time.
Before You Go
- Location: 500 Glen Cheek Drive, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920. Check in at the ticket booth next to Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar; the boat is right behind it
- Arrive: at least 15 minutes early; parking is free
- Bring: sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable shoes and a rain jacket on wet days
- Gratuity: 18 to 20% of the ticket price is standard; you can pre-tip by card for a tip voucher
