Black Dog Fishing Charters offers a small-group Jupiter fishing charter that sits between a crowded party boat and a pricey private trip. Owner Capt. Bill Taylor runs the Black Dog out of Castaways Marina, home of the Square Grouper Tiki Bar, at 1111 Love Street in Jupiter, just inside the Jupiter Inlet. The reefs off Jupiter sit close to the Gulf Stream, so the boat doesn’t need a long run to reach good fishing.
A Smaller-Group Jupiter Fishing Charter
The Black Dog is licensed for 20 passengers but usually fishes just 8 to 10 anglers, which leaves plenty of rail space and more attention from the crew. A mate keeps your line baited and handles the fish, so the trip works for first-timers and kids as well as experienced anglers. You can book a single seat and share the boat, or reserve the whole boat for your group.
Trip Times
Two half-day trips run every day:
- Morning: 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM
- Midday: 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Evening charters can be arranged on request, and the boat also runs sunrise and sunset sightseeing cruises and inshore fishing charters. Plan to arrive at the dock 15 minutes before departure.
Jupiter Fishing Charter Prices
- Individual seat: $120 per person
- Whole boat (up to 10 anglers): $1,200
Card payments carry a surcharge of $5 per person, or $50 for a whole-boat charter, so bring cash if you’d rather avoid it. Gift certificates are available. Reservations are recommended, and booking about a week ahead is a good idea in busy season.
What You’ll Catch off Jupiter
Trips fish the reefs off Jupiter, where snapper are the bread and butter. Yellowtail, mangrove and lane snapper are common catches, along with rainbow runner and whatever else is biting that day. The crew cleans and fillets your catch back at the dock, and nearby waterfront restaurants will cook it for you.
