Flying Fish Fleet | Sarasota Party Boat Fishing at Marina Jack
Flying Fish Fleet has been taking anglers out of downtown Sarasota for more than six decades, and it’s one of the easiest ways to go Sarasota party boat fishing on the Gulf. The fleet sails from the north end of Marina Jack on the Sarasota Bayfront, with free parking right at the marina, and runs two U.S. Coast Guard-inspected party boats plus a private charter boat.
The Boats
- Flying Fish: an 85-foot aluminum boat built by Gulf Craft, carrying up to 70 passengers, with a large cushioned salon, a galley, two restrooms and a sun deck.
- Flying Fish II: a fast 50-foot fiberglass boat for up to 25 passengers, with air conditioning, a restroom and a small galley.
- Big Catch: a 43-foot Hatteras for private and split charters of up to 6, with custom Penn tackle and Lowrance electronics, run by a captain and mate.
The fleet caps its party boats below their full capacity to avoid overcrowding.
Party Boat Trips and Prices
- 4.5 hours (8:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 1:30 to 6:00 PM): $90 adults, $80 seniors and children
- 6 hours (8:00 AM to 2:00 PM): $110 adults, $90 seniors and children
- 8 hours (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM): $150 for all passengers
Party boat reservations are required by 4 PM the day before, since each trip needs a minimum number of passengers to sail. Online bookings carry a 6% convenience fee, and a 20% gratuity for the crew is recommended.
Split and Private Charters on Big Catch
Split charters on Big Catch are priced per person based on six guests: $198 for 4 hours, $300 for 6 hours, $360 for 8 hours, $440 for 10 hours and $500 for 12 hours, plus a 20% gratuity. The whole boat can also be booked as a private charter for your group; call for rates.
What’s Included
Party boat fares include rod and reel, your fishing license, and cut squid for bait. You’re welcome to bring your own frozen or live bait (with your own container and aerator for live bait). Snacks and drinks are sold on board, and you can bring your own beverages, but no glass bottles. The crew works the rail to help every angler get the most out of the trip.
Before You Go
- Location: Marina Jack, Sarasota Bayfront, on U.S. 41 one block south of the turn to Lido Beach. The fleet is at the north end of the marina, with free parking (ask the office for a permit)
- Bring: a hat, sunblock, sunglasses and a towel for slimy hands; add rain gear if the weather looks iffy and layers for early departures
- Weather: trips run rain or shine, seas permitting, and you aren’t charged if the fleet cancels for weather or mechanical problems
- Cancellations: change or cancel at least 24 hours ahead (by 8 AM the day before), or the full fare is charged; whole-boat charters need seven days’ notice
